A loan of $3,825 helped a member to buy potatoes.

Las Sembradoras Group's story

“LAS SEMBRADORAS” communal bank has started their eighth cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Panamericana regional office. It is composed of eight members, led by a Board of directors. Jhoana is the secretary. The businesses of the members of the communal bank are various. Amongst them are selling fruit, weaving cloth, weaving blankets, weaving miniature clothing and carpentry. The loan will benefit these small enterprises of which Jhoana is a member.

Jhoana joined pro Mujer five years ago, on the invitation of a friend who is a member of the institution. She lives with a life partner and has three children. At present her business is the production and sale of fried potatoes and plantains. She learned this business through her mother who also works in this business.

She will use this loan to increase her stock (buy potatoes) which she will get from wholesale sellers. She will prepare them in her selling space. This work allows her to maintain her household as best she can. When asked what she liked about Pro Mujer, she replied that she liked the Health services.
