Munafa Group's story

Meet this group of entrepreneurs from the township of Lunsar in northern Sierra Leone. These hard-working, dedicated, businesswomen want loans of SLL 1,000,000 per group member, in order to expand the size and quality of their respective businesses. This will lead to more sales and better profits. Mariatu is the featured leader of this group. A native of the town of Lunsar, the 35-year-old is married and has six children, four of whom are attending primary and secondary school. Mariatu has been a businesswoman for 10 years. She sells market food – palm-oil, onions, margi (used to give sauce a sweet taste), and the like. With her share of this loan, she is going to buy the above-mentioned items in bulk to add to her current stock.
