Elsie is married and has four children. She lives in Manla, Sapangdalaga, Misamis Occidental. Her husband is a fisherman, and she sell fish in town, for a living. She has been in this business for more than ten years. Recently, she borrowed a loan from GDMPC, in order to acquire a motorboat to be used for fishing. She hopes to earn more income, to provide for the needs of the family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
