Zainab's story

Zainab is 53 years old. She is a married woman with five children. Zainab lives in the J. Rumy district, in the southern part of Tajikistan. She and her husband are involved in growing agricultural crops and also in breeding cattle for their household. Recently, Zainab's daughter learned sewing from a seamstress in their village and now can independently sew women's national dresses. At the present time, she needs a sewing machine in order to start her own business. The mother wants to support her daughter in opening the sewing business and, therefore, requested a loan. Zainab plans to use the loan to buy her daugher a computerized sewing machine. Seamstresses are always in demand in their village because young women and women often come to them for making dresses. Zainab plans to save the profit from the business for her daughter's wedding.
