A loan of $400 helped to buy thread, cloth and wool for sewing dolls.

Naseem's story

Naseem is a 35-year-old married woman, living in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. She has been sewing dolls for the past 4 years to support her family. She was inspired by her neighbor Tasleem, who has been doing the same business for 6 years, and she is also a member of BRAC Pakistan. Naseem beautifully sews dolls at home and then sells them in the local market. She has attained a regular list of customers and makes enough dolls to contribute to the family income. Her husband drives an auto rickshaw but earns an insufficient income to support his family alone.

Naseem is a mother of 5 children and is motivated to provide for her family. To cope with the increasing demand of her customers, she requested a loan of 40,000 PKR from BRAC Pakistan, to purchase stocks of thread, fancy cloth, sequins, and pearls of various colors. She hopes to get a boost in her earnings through her larger sales. She is in her 4th loan cycle and has shown an excellent repayment behavior. She wishes to utilize a portion of the revenue to provide a quality education for her children.

She is very thankful to Kiva's field partner BRAC Pakistan.
