A loan of $300 helped to purchase wool in bulk in different colours and sizes.

Maria's story

María, 54, is a modest and tenacious woman. She raised her 7 children alone, and now lives with one of them in a house they have rented for the past 4 years. Her work is varied, and despite her advanced age, María has the vitality of a young girl. She sells food, sweets, and jellies in bulk at all of the festivals in nearby towns. As well, she knits sweaters, hats, scarves, and more using natural wool and wooden needles. Her creativity and perseverance have attracted regular clients. Now that the rainy season is approaching, she has a lot of knitting to deliver, including hats, gloves, and woollen scarves. This is her second loan with Kiva, and she feels grateful for the financial support she has already received which has allowed her to move forward. María will invest this 800 soles in the purchase of wool in bulk in different colours, sizes, and textures to complete her knitting.
