Aminata's story

Aminata is a married woman, 38 years old and the mother of five children. She lives with her ​​children and her husband in the North Hérémakono district of Bougouni.

Having quit school at an early age mainly due to her parent's poverty, she decided to undertake income-generating activities such as the purchase and sale of pagnes (colorful West-African fabric) and clothing. With over 8 years' experience, she is highly sought after and appreciated in Bougouni.

Having successfully repaid her four previous loans, this is her fifth which will be used to buy 10 sets of men's clothing and 10 pagnes. She resupplies in Bamako (capital of the Republic of Mali). Her goods are sold from her home and in various districts of Bougouni.

She intends to achieve monthly profits of 50,000 FCFA, which will serve to help her parents, assist her husband with family expenses, pay interest on the loan and expand her business.
