A loan of $1,600 helped purchase thread and fabric.

Renato Carlos's story

Every other week in the canton of Rocefuerte, the members of the Rocafuerte Community Bank meet. This area is known for the delicious desserts the locals make and are popular throughout the entire country.

This is where Renato lives. He is single, 25 years old, and lives in his aunt's home. He is in his final semester of civil engineering at the Technical University of Manabí. He hopes to graduate and be able to work in this profession for the benefit of himself and his family.

In addition to this studies, Renato also manages a business selling the linens, mattress covers, bedspreads, and pillowcases that his aunt makes. He makes his sales door to door and the majority of his sales come through orders made in advance. He works everyday in the morning because he then concentrates on his studies in the afternoons and evenings. Thanks to this business he's been able to keep up with his studies.

This loan will be used to purchase thread and fabric for making sheets and blankets. Renato has been a member of this community bank for four years, and he likes it because the interest rates are low. His goal is to finish his studies and find work in his field.
