A loan of $1,900 helped a member to import electrical goods like televisions, stoves, fridges and cellphones from South Africa and Botswana for resale.

Chisungo Group's story

Greetings from Zimbabwe! This is 39-year-old Sithembile from Mutare. She is a single parent with three children, and two are attending school. Sithembile runs a retail business, selling electrical goods (televisions, stoves and fridges) and clothes. The business has been in operation for four years. She says the main challenge being faced is that of late payments from clients who buy on credit. Sithembile has requested a loan of $500 to buy televisions and cellphones for resale. She says the extra income generated as a result of this loan will allow her to improve the general welfare of the family. In the future, Sithembile plans to build her own shop.
