A loan of $1,600 helped to buy perfume, creams, cosmetics, and clothes.

Gisella Yaqueline's story

The Virgen María communal bank meets every 15 days in the Montecristi canton. The canton is known for its rich pre-colonial history and its handicrafts, which are recognized on a national and international level. The city has a warm climate and a variety of cuisines, which makes it unique.

This is where Gisella, age 22 and single, lives. She is studying education at the university. She lives in her parents’ house. She has been in the communal bank for three years. She likes it because, thanks to the loans, she started her business. The business allows her to earn her own resources, and with these resources, continue her studies in order to have a better future.

In addition to studying, Gisella also sells clothes and all types of Esika, Lebel, and Sayson (beauty products, perfume, and women’s accessories) products. She works every day because she sells to her classmates. On the week-ends she visits other customers that she has in the city. She leaves her products on credit, and she collects every week. She has been engaged in this business activity for three years. She helps her parents and gets ahead in her studies with the business.

This loan is to buy perfume, creams, cosmetics, and clothes. Her dreams are to complete her education and to get a good job.
