A loan of $550 helped to purchase food products such as rice, sugar, milk, and others.

Raquel's story

Raquel is 42 years old and married to Miguel. Together they have a two year old son. They live on a part of her brother's land, where they have built their house.

Raquel works selling food products such as rice, sugar, eggs, milk, oil, condiments, beans, flour, and other items. She has a small stand that she rents in the main market in the busiest district in the city. She has done this work for five years and since she started, she has worked alone and learned to get ahead. She likes to serve the public and does so with great care because more than anything she knows that the fruit of her labor helps with the household expenses and thus helps her husband with the household expenses. She feels very good about the income she earns and hopes later to have a larger store where she can sell a larger quantity of products.

This is her third loan with Kiva and she is grateful for the financial support that she receives to continue forward. She promises to make her repayments on time. With the 1500 soles requested she will purchase food products such as rice, sugar, milk, oil, bread, flour, pasta, canned goods, and other items.
