A loan of $450 helped purchase wholesale plantains and vegetables.

Monica's story

Mónica is 23 years old, married to Juan and has two children who are 5 and 2 years old. She lives with her family in her own home. Mónica sells plantains. Everyday she is busy at a table that she sets up to one side of her mother's store and from here she offers her produce to customers. Sometimes, she likes to diversify her product by offering regional vegetables such as cucumber, chili peppers, lemons and others. She has been selling vegetables for 3 years and she always attends to her customers in a cordial and friendly way. She likes her business because she is able to earn some money but also because she is able to have her own profession and feel productive. She considers her business to be very profitable because she typically sells all her produce. She also has plans to buy a mototaxi and to rent it out to others in order to earn even more money. This is her fourth loan with Kiva and she is very thankful for the financial support she has received in order to continue forward in her business. She also promises to repay her loan on a timely basis. With the credit she will purchase more wholesale plantains and some other vegetables.
