A loan of $1,225 helped a member to purchase a cow.

Kantutas Blancas Group's story

The Kantutas Blancas community bank is starting their fourth loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Cascada regional center. The group is made up of eight members and directed by a board where Rosa is the president. The members' businesses are varied and include commercial stores, milk sales, and a bookstore.

Loans like this benefit small business owners like Rosa. She says that she has done four loan cycles with Pro Mujer. She joined at the invitation of a promoter of the institution that came to visit her at home. Currently she has a business selling milk. She inherited this business from her parents many years ago since it is a family business.

She is requesting this loan now for working capital to purchase a cow. She will acquire it in neighboring towns and later raise it and sell the milk in her community. The type of work allows her to generate income to support her household since she lives in a common-law marriage and has three children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the savings.
