A loan of $2,075 helped a member to purchase fruits and vegetables for re-sale.

San Rafael Alegria Group's story

The communal bank "San Rafael Alegria" has fourteen members. It is a new group that was formed by some neighbors from an outlying area of Concepción. The people there have little access to education and it is not very safe. The members of the group want their city to keep growing and improving.
Sra. Maria is one of the members of the communal bank. She is from a small neighborhood in a Concepción district. It is there that she has her small business selling fruits and vegetables in the municipal market. She hopes that, with time and everyone's help, all the people from her area can improve their surroundings and thereby offer improved security to their families and assure them of a better future.
Sra. Maria is requesting the loan in order to purchase fruits and vegetables. With them she will be able to keep on with her sales and continue helping her family.
