PUCALLPA, Peru / Clothing

A loan of $375 helped to buy materials like fabric, thread, and elastic bands for her dressmaking business.

Lidia's story

Lidia is 47 years old. She is a single mother and lives in her own home with her three children. Lidia works making clothing items for men, women, and children, but she also often personally designs some of the clothing items she makes and her creations sell quickly. She has been working in this business for over fifteen years. She had to take a few months off because of health problems, but now she is back to work and has much more enthusiasm than before. What she likes about her work is that she can reflect her inspiration in an item of clothing. Her knack for creating new things has made her one of the best seamstresses in the city. She hopes to build a sewing shop soon and also build a space to showcase and sell her own creations exclusively.

This will be her third loan through Kiva. She appreciates the opportunity and trust they have given her in order to receive this loan. On the other hand, she promises to comply with her payment terms in a timely manner. She will use the 1,000 PEN amount to purchase sewing materials like fabric, thread, elastic bands, lace, and lycra.
