A loan of $375 helped to repair her motorcycle taxi so she can rent it out and increase her income.

Lupe's story

Lupe is forty-three and married and lives in her own home with her husband and two children. She makes a living selling fresh fish in the morning that she buys from the port in her city. She makes her sales on a tricycle that is equipped with a loudspeaker so she can offer her product. She uses the tricycle as transportation to carry her product through the streets. She also has a motorcycle taxi that she rents out to a driver, which generates additional income. She started this business more than three years ago with her own capital and later expanded it with loans. She also has the support of her husband with making sales. She started her business to have the necessary income to cover the costs of her children's education. Giving them an education is the best inheritance that she can give them. Since she has seen good results, she hopes to continue with her business and support herself. This will be her second loan with Kiva. She is very thankful to have the opportunity to continue with her business. She will invest the 1,000 PEN in repairing her motorcycle taxi.
