Benkadi I Group's story

The ten members of the group "BENKADI I" are married women, who average 36 years of age and four children each. The women live for the most part in polygamous families in Kantola, a village in Commune de Guégnaka, Préfecture de Dioïla, in Région de Koulikoro (2nd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The women are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso with the goal of better organizing their work at the start of the rainy season. And they are on their fourth collaboration with the institution. The crops grown are peanuts, millet, and sesame.

With this loan, Ramatou, who is sitting in the middle of her row, intends to purchase farm inputs and tools and to cover the cost of plowing to maintain 1 hectare of millet and peanuts.

After the harvest, the produce is sold in Fana City to men and women customers. She hopes to make a profit of about 95,000 francs CFA per planting.
