A loan of $1,175 helped to purchase more building glass to sell.

Stephen's story

Stephen is 41 years old and lives in the town of Nakifuma in the Mukono region of Uganda. He is married and has seven children, all of whom currently attend school. For the past seven years, Stephen has been working hard to manage his small business, which sells glass.

To help expand his business, Stephen has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more glass to sell, and will help Stephen to generate greater profits and pay his children's school fees. Stephen hopes that in the future he will be able to provide better quality building glass in town.

Stephen is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Stephen who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
