María Concepcion's story

María is taking out her fourth loan at her friends' side from the Fe y Alegría communal bank. She likes this type of loan because they are quick and she shares with her friends. She lives in the city of Cuenca, a place that has a lot of beauty in its architecture. It is bathed in 4 rivers that shelter it. This city is the cradle of writers and artisans. It's cuisine captivates the palates of its own people and visitors alike.

María is 46 years old. She is married and from her marriage has 2 children, aged 23 and 17. Her oldest son works and her second son is in high school. Her husband works as a bricklayer. They own the house they live in.

For 3 months, María has worked cleaning houses. Right now, the work is going well for her. In her house she grows vegetables and harvests them for her household consumption and to sell. She also raises egg-laying chickens and guinea pigs.

She is going to invest her loan in buying chickens, guinea pigs, seeds and fertilizer for her crops.

Her goal is to fix her house.
