Niño De Praga (Cuenca) Group's story

The “Niño de Praga” (Child of Prague) communal bank consists of seven enterprising women who have known each other for many years. They are great friends and work in various economic activities which provide them with the opportunity of helping at home and moving their families forward. They live in a beautiful sector of the city of Cuenca, a city that’s been a Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 1999 and that’s bathed by four rivers that give it a special magic; it has several tourist attractions, its climate is cold and its residents still retain the culture and tradition of its peoples.

One of the group members is Dolores who is in her second loan alongside her friends and fellow Niño de Praga group members. Dolores is 37-years-old, married and has conceived two children who are 14 and 7 years of age and attend secondary and primary school respectively. Her husband’s an industrial mechanic and works in his own shop; the house she lives in is hers.

Dolores is a very hardworking woman who works as a cleaning assistant and in her free time sells various brands of cosmetics via catalog. She likes these activities because they give her the opportunity of improving her home’s economic situation.

She will use her new loan to buy cosmetics on sale to grow this business. Her dream is to be debt-free.
