A loan of $4,750 helped a member to buy fresh vegetables and to pay an advance to her wholesalers in order to maintain her customer base during the rainy season.

Binta's Group's story

This group comprises 22 women from the banc villageois "Diambars de Doumassou", an expression which means "to show courage and determination". These women share strong ties of solidarity and mutual assistance. They all live in the same neighborhood and their main activity is small retail business.

Binta (seated at the far right in the photo), is the group's representative. She is married and supports four of her children (two girls and two boys). She has a table at the central market, where she sells fresh vegetables. She buys her produce from women who have their own gardens on the outskirts of town, and she resells her merchandise on a retail basis. She is very experienced in this activity.

She plans to use this loan to buy fresh vegetables, and also to pay an advance to her wholesalers, in order to maintain her customer base during the rainy season.

The profits from her business will allow her to help her husband with the daily management of the family expenses.
