A loan of $275 helped to buy an overlock sewing machine to offer other services and products at a higher quality.

María Del Rosario's story

Maria, 55 years old, lives in the beautiful city of Barranquilla, Atlántico Department. It is known nationally as the "Sandy" place or "Curramba the beautiful." She is married and has two children ages 22 and 24. She has a business making dresses, shirts, and pants in addition to clothing repairs. She takes both cash and credit from her customers in the neighborhood and those referred to her. She works from six in the morning until nine at night every day. She sells her items in shops in the market in the city center. She learned this skill from her older sisters over 30 years ago. She started the business in 2003, which was 10 years ago.

This is her first Kiva loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, which she will apply to buying an overlock sewing machine to offer other services and products at a higher quality. Her goals are to have a workshop with employees and have her daughters finish their higher education.
