Although he has received no prior formal education, Kwesi is an entrepreneur. He specializes in selling charcoal in Apewosika (near Cape Coast). He has been involved in this enterprise for five years. Kwesi is married and has two children. His wife works as a trader. The proceeds from his business normally go towards helping his wife cover the family’s general expenses and pay their children’s school fees. Kwesi will use the loan to purchase a larger amount of charcoal, thus helping him to improve his overall sales. With the new profits from his expanded business, Kwesi plans to further diversify the type of products that he sells, hence adapting to changing customer preferences.
