Yessenia Colombia's story

The Communal Bank Jardín De La Artesanía (Garden of the Crafts) meets every fifteen days in Montecristi Canton, known for its rich pre-colonial culture and crafts, which are recognized nationally and internationally; the place of the famous Panama hats. Yessenia lives here. She is 39 years old, a single mother and has three children ages 20, 17 and 11; the two youngest go to school. She learned cutting and tailoring by practicing but doesn't have a certification. Yessenia is a very hard working woman who likes to be self-sufficient and to get her family ahead. She has a sewing workshop in her house where she makes clothes mostly sports clothing and school clothing in the city. Also, she makes all types of clothing for people who go to her house since they know the quality of her work. She has been doing this work for 5 years which helps her to support her children on her own. This loan is to buy threads, fabrics, fasteners and other materials that she need to make her garments. She has been in the Communal Bank for five cycles and she likes it because the loans are a great help. Her dream is that her children finish their studies and become great professionals.
