A loan of $900 helped to buy fabrics wholesale.

Eva's story

Eva, 50, is a simple woman who cared for and educated five children on her own. They are now independent, so she lives alone in her own home. Thanks to the good things the community receives from nature, she and the local people sell crafts for a living. Every weekend and on holidays many tourists visit the area and are received with much dedication and love, because many local incomes are dependent on their satisfaction.

Eva has a small craft shop in the main square of the village where she shows the tourists the art she makes with products from the forest, such as the handmade bags depicting the colors and landscape of the area. Work is going well for her because tourists visit frequently. Now she wants to increase her work capital to improve her crafts and innovate with new product designs. This is her first KIVA loan and she is grateful for the support she is receiving to get ahead. She is committed to paying back the loan on time and will invest the 2,000 PEN in fabrics she will buy wholesale to make her artisan bags.
