Dúo Asucenas De Maria Group
In this Group: Maria Luisa , Maria Isabel
“Azucenas de María” Duo

María Isabel, 41, is part of this duo. She has worked at home manufacturing traditional textiles (skirts and blouses) for the last 25 years; she also sells snacks (bread and corn-based beverage). She does the second activity only on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the church in her community.

She needs another loan to buy thread and fabric for her textiles and also to stock up for her snack sales. Her greatest wish is to continue growing and diversifying her products to offer her customers good quality products and more variety in order to move her minor children ahead this way. She’s already managed various loans with Kiva/Fape and has never defaulted on her loans since that’s her way of repaying with goodness for the support she’s gotten for her business by means of the loans.

About FAPE

FAPE, the Foundation for the Assistance of Small Businesses, is a nonprofit, socially-minded institution that provides loans to micro-entrepreneurs across Guatemala.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
