A loan of $1,750 helped a member to buy fabric to make backpacks.

Mantillitas Group's story

The “Mantillitas” communal bank consists of four members, three women and one man. The group coordinator is José, 29. He works making articles of clothing and for the last few years has been making backpacks and tote bags. His workshop is located at home which is in the Bautista neighborhood.

This loan is his first sequence in the institution and José will use the loan to buy fabric to make the backpacks at wholesale. His reason for requesting this loan is to increase investment capital because he delivers his finished products to various street markets in the cities of El Alto and La Paz.

The business challenge José faces is to increase income and he will be using profits to buy sewing supplies to make good quality clothes in order to secure more customer orders. José is a very hardworking person who feels happy and grateful to the institution for the support provided.
