A loan of $325 helped a member to buy farm inputs and seeds, and pay for plowing.

Faso Djigui Iii Group's story

The members of Faso Djigui III Group are married women who average 28 years of age and 3 children. They all live in polygamous families in N’Gouaran, one of the villages in Kebila, Kolondieba Prefecture, third administrative region of Mali.

They work with Kiva's partner, the MFI Soro Yiriwaso, in order to carry out their farming activities during the rainy season. They are seeking their sixth loan from the MFI. The previous loans were repaid without problems.

Djeneba (first woman standing on the left in the photograph) is growing rice. With her loan, she intends to buy farm inputs and seeds, and pay for plowing to maintain two hectares.

After the harvest, the production is sold in the village and in Kolondieba, to a clientele comprising both men and women.

She intends to turn a profit of XOF 145'500 (ca US$ 290) per planting, which will enable her to repay the loan, and also help her husband cover daily expenses.
