A loan of $3,075 helped a member to buy more fruit such as pineapples.

Patriotas De Patria Group's story

A group of neighbours and friends set up the communal bank "Patriotas de Patria" [patriots of Patria] in the town of Patria. Micaela is 42 years old and lives in the town of Patria. She is a responsible and kind person who gets ahead in life through her main commercial activity which is buying and selling fruit such as pineapples, bananas, oranges, "caimito" [star apple] and "cocona".

At present she needs the loan to buy more fruit such as pineapples to increase her business capital.

This community bank is made up of various people who are always looking for opportunities to make progress and provide a better future for their children through daily hard work. The members work in agriculture, selling dry grains, selling clothing, selling wood, breeding small animals, motorbike maintenance and other activities. All of the members appreciate the opportunity provided by the loan and are committed to paying off their respective instalments in the agreed timeframes.

(The town of Patria is known for the sale of produce from the jungle as well as services such as accommodation and restaurants. Point of entry to Manu National Park.)
