A loan of $250 helped to purchase maize flour, rice, beans, sugar, and cooking oil.

Rachael's story

Rachael is a widowed woman with three children, all of whom attend school. She lives at a rental house that has neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees.

For the past six years, she has operated a food kiosk business, selling food like maize flour and cooking fat to her neighbours and passersby. She mentioned seasonality as her major challenge and she dreams of establishing a wholesale shop in the future.

With the KES 20,000 she wants to purchase maize flour, rice, beans, sugar, and cooking oil. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
