A loan of $2,425 helped to purchase new calves to expand the business.

Ulkar's story

Ulkar is 47 years old. She is an IDP (internally displaced person) and lives with her husband and children in the Bilasuvar IDP Settlement. She is a hard-working person who takes care of her family by doing business in animal husbandry. Ulkar grows cattle and raises them to sell meat. She has been in this business for 10 years.

Her husband supports her in the business. The business takes a lot of effort, but together they run it successfully. She sells the meat in the central bazaar, where the demand for meat is high. People in Azerbaijan consume meat a lot, because it is used in most dishes. Some traditional meals like kebabs, dolma and others require beef in their preparation. Her profit is 130 AZN monthly. Ulkar is applying for a new loan of 1,900 AZN, in order to expand the business by buying new calves. She plans to grow these calves, fatten them and sell more meat, for the coming traditional holidays, when the demand for beef will increase. This is her 3rd loan.
