A loan of $1,075 helped to purchase some livestock.

Noor's story

Noor A. is a 34-year-old man. He is married and the father of four children. They have lived in Ningarhar province for a long time. Noor has been working as a farmer for the last several years in his village. His children go to school and he is the sole breadwinner for his family.

Noor A. grows different kinds of vegetables on his lands and sells them in the center of the city. However, his current $8-a-day income is not sufficient for the family; he needs $20 at least. His sons help him on the farms in addition to their schooling, but Noor doesn’t allow them to spend a lot time there because he wants them to do well in school and pursue a bright future.

Noor A. has been thinking about how to solve his problems for a while now. He finally decided to purchase some livestock and do animal husbandry. He knows that this business is quite profitable in his area. There are a lot of grasslands in his village and he would provide sufficient food for the stock. He hopes that he will sell milk and yogurt. With this plan in mind, he has applied for a loan of 50,000 Afghanis over 24 months.

Noor A. hopes that if he is able to expand his business, he will buy more livestock and will start a stock-selling business in the future. He thanks the lenders in advance.
