A loan of $650 helped to buy electric goods.

Luis Melitón's story

The “Jesús de Nazaret” (Jesus of Nazareth) communal bank meets every fifteen days in the city of Portoviejo, capital of Manabí, known for many years as the City of the Royal Tamarinds because of the great amount of this fruit that existed back then.

Luis, 62, lives here. He’s divorced and has three adult children; one of his daughters lives with him.

Luis is an electrician and has a small store at home where he sells all types of electric items. He has a large clientele and his locale is very popular because everything can be found there and since he knows a lot about it he help by offering what they really need for their work. He’s been in this business for more than 40 years and it made it possible for him to raise his children who are now upstanding citizens.

He will use this loan to buy more electric goods to stock the business with what’s needed. He’s been in the communal bank for two cycles and he likes the help the loans provide. His dream is to be in good health.
