A loan of $500 helped to buy clothing for women and kids, as well as footwear to sell.

Thobekile's story

Greetings from Zimbabwe! This is 37-year-old Thobekile from Bulawayo. She is married and has two children, of whom one is attending secondary school. The other child is in pre-school at a local nursery.

Thobekile runs a retail business selling various clothing items and footwear for both men and women. The business has been in operation for at least five years. She says the main challenges she faces are the lack of working capital, as well as stiff competition from bigger retailers.

Thobekile has requested a loan of $500 to buy clothing for children and women, and footwear to sell. She says the extra income generated will allow her to supplement her husband's income, and improve the family's welfare.

In the future, Thobekile plans to open more stalls, and a clothing boutique.
