A loan of $675 helped a member to buy agricultural inputs, seeds, small tools, and to cover the cost of plowing.

Danaya 3 Group's story

The members of the Danaya 3 group are married women who are, on average, 35 years old with four children each. They all live in traditional families in Pourè, one of the villages of the commune of San (fourth administrative region of Mali).

They have joined the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to successfully carry out their farming activities during the rainy season. They are on their third loan with the institution and have duly repaid their previous loans.

Tara, a member of the group, grows groundnut. In the photo, she is in the standing row, first from the right.

She plans to use her loan to buy agricultural inputs, seeds, small tools, and to cover the cost of plowing to cultivate 1.5 hectare (3.7 acres) of land.

After the harvest, she will sell her production to both men and women in her own village and in San. She is expecting to make a profit of 90,000 CFA francs per growing season. This profit will allow her to repay her loan and to help her husband with the daily expenses.
