Tiornola 2 Group's story

The members of the group called TIORNOLA 2 are married women with an average age of 43 and on average, four children, all living in polygamous families in Ifola, one of the villages of Sikasso, third administrative region of Mali.

They work together with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso so as to succeed with their agricultural activities during the rainy season. They are on their seventh loan with the institution and the preceding loans have been correctly reimbursed.

The crop cultivated by Mrs. Assanatou, standing in the middle, is maize. With her loan she is intending to buy inputs and seeds to farm one hectare. Her produce is sold in the village, at the market, after the harvest, to a clientele composed of men and women. She intends to make a profit of 115,000 francs CFA this season. This profit will allow her to repay her loan and help her husband with daily expenses.
