A loan of $250 helped to pay for more school and office supplies.

Mary Ann's story

This is Mary Ann, 45, a resident of GMA, Cavite, Philippines. She is a widow and a mother to her children. She, together with her children, manages their household while operating the business. At this time, she is working hard to continually provide income for their everyday expenses.

Mary Ann operates a school/office supplies business. It is where one can buy school supplies, like pens, bond paper, cartolina and the like, without going to a bookstore. She gets the supplies at wholesale prices and sells them by the piece. Her store is located adjacent to her house. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of Php 500 in sales every day.

To help her continue operations of her business, she is requesting a Php 10,000 loan. She will be utilizing the loan to buy school supplies to expand her product inventory.

Mary Ann dreams of expanding her business and having another store. She hopes that her children will finish their studies. She meets up with her co-fellowship* members to share stories of her work every week and draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God she studies.

* All CCT community partners / clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and repay Micro Finance loans.
