Kotognogontala Group's story

The members of the Kotognogontala group are married women with an average age of 36 and, on average, 5 children. Most of them live in monogamous families in Ouayerma I, one of the popular districts of Sikasso town, in the 3rd administrative region of Mali. This is their 14th loan from the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution, which they are requesting in order to be able to satisfy their customers' needs.

Kiatou is the Kotognogontala group member who sells lettuce and onions. She is sitting on the left in the picture. She plans to use her loan to buy 28 baskets of lettuce, per month, and three 50-kilo bags of onions, which she will resell for cash locally, with her family, to a retail clientèle mainly composed of women. She expects to make an average monthly profit of 40 000 francs, part of which will be used to repay the loan and part of which will be saved.
