Kotognogontala Group

The members of the Kotognogontala group are married women with an average age of 36 and, on average, 5 children. Most of them live in monogamous families in Ouayerma I, one of the popular districts of Sikasso town, in the 3rd administrative region of Mali. This is their 14th loan from the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution, which they are requesting in order to be able to satisfy their customers' needs.

Kiatou is the Kotognogontala group member who sells lettuce and onions. She is sitting on the left in the picture. She plans to use her loan to buy 28 baskets of lettuce, per month, and three 50-kilo bags of onions, which she will resell for cash locally, with her family, to a retail clientèle mainly composed of women. She expects to make an average monthly profit of 40 000 francs, part of which will be used to repay the loan and part of which will be saved.
Les membres du groupe KOTOGNOGONTALA sont des femmes mariées avec une moyenne d’âge de 36 ans et en moyenne 5 enfants. Elles vivent la plupart dans des familles monogamiques à Ouayerma I un des quartiers populaires de la ville de Sikasso 3ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles sont à leur quatorzième prêt avec l’institution de micro finance Soro Yiriwaso afin de satisfaire le besoin de leur clientèle.
Mme KIATOU fait le commerce de laitue et d’oignon dans ce groupe de femmes de KOTOGNOGONTALA. Elle se tient assise en première position de la gauche vers la droite sur la photo.
Elle compte acheter avec son prêt 28 paniers de laitue par mois, 3 sacs de 50 kg d’oignon qu’elle revend en détail sur place en famille à une clientèle composée pour la majeur partie de femmes au comptant.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 40 000 francs CFA dont une partie est utilisée pour payer le prêt et son interêt et l’autre pour son épargne.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
