This is the Solidaridad (Solidarity) group.

Mirian, 51, is one of the partners. She has an eight-year-old son. At the present time she is living with her sisters whom are very close and supportive of each other. Mirian works for herself. Five years ago, her sister encouraged her to start her own clothing business. Thanks to her job she can pay for the living expenses of her son, whom she takes care of alone. She works about 7 hours daily. Her best customers are her neighbours, friends and relatives. On the weekends she also sells food which she prepares in her house and sells.

The money from the loan that she is requesting will be used to purchase more clothing for her business. In the near future she wants to have her own store, now she cannot do it because of the lack of resources, but she believes that soon she will have it.

Mirian thanks EDAPROSPO for their support and all the people who have allowed her and her communal group the opportunity to obtain this loan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
