A loan of $575 helped to buy a freezer and fish.

Edgar José's story

Edgar is 41 years old and has been making a living selling fish for four years. Five years ago he began his experience with this type of economic activity because several of his brothers are fishermen and from his family he learned more about the quality of fish. He sells fish including lebranche, bocachico and mojarra at the main market composed of shops and restaurants in his neighborhood. His sales are made in cash up front and on credit Mondays-Fridays from 8am until 11pm. He purchases his fish from his brothers in cash. They offer him an excellent quality of products and he works hard to reach many customers with the services he offers in order to see his business grow.

He is currently applying for a Kiva loan, his first credit with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. Through this credit he will buy a freezer and fish in large quantities. With this investment he will expand his offerings because he will be able to conserve the fish with the care that this business requires, which is rightfully so, his reason to succeed.
