A loan of $550 helped buy handcrafts, shoes, and clothing.

Desiré Karina's story

Desiré is 31 years old and lives in a city very close to the capital of Atlántico. There, she works selling clothes, accessories, and general handcrafts. Two years ago (December of 2010), she bought her first shoes, accessories, and clothing to sell to her first customers. Little by little, they have been recommending her to others and she has made them her faithful customers due to her good service.

Desiré wakes up early every day, buys her goods wholesale in the market, sorts it, and responds to her customers based on her orders. She sells retail according to the specifications and orders that have been made to her. She accepts cash and also sells on credit, accepting payment little buy little for each good.

Her goal for the future is to have her own store and help her daughter progress, leaving her with her own business.

Currently, Desiré is asking for her first Kiva loan through the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation. With the loan, she will buy the handcrafts, shoes, and clothing that her good customers ask for. She hopes to receive her Kiva loan and respond to it appropriately, because her dream is to obtain recognition in sales and do her best to help her business progress. This is exactly what makes Kiva great.
