Rose's story

This is Rose from Liberia. She lives in Gbarnga, which is the capital city of Bong County and located in the center of the country. The majority of people here are farmers growing crops such as rice, palm oil and cassava.

Rose is 39 years old and married with 3 children. Her oldest child is 13 and her youngest child is 8. All of them are currently living at home and in school. Rose owns a cook shop where she sells fufu (cassava-based dough), dough, rice and soup for the past seven years now. She will use the loan proceeds to purchase fufu, cassava, fish, meat and rice, etc. for her business.

On average, she works 13 hours a day at her business. She started her business with money from her husband. She transports her merchandise by bus. She cites her small income as her biggest challenge.
