The ten members of Benkadi VIII Group are married women who average 45 years of age and seven children. They all live in polygamous families in Komo, a village in Baguineda, second administrative region of Mali.

The work with Kiva's partner, the MFI Soro Yiriwaso, in order to carry out their farming activities during the rainy season. They are seeking their fifth loan from the MFI, and previous loans were repaid without problems.

Ramatou (fifth women from the left in the standing row) is growing millet. With her loan, she intends to buy farm inputs and seeds, and pay for plowing to maintain 0.5 hectare.

After the harvest, the production is sold at the market in the village, to a clientele comprising resellers and consumers. She intends to turn a profit of XOF 90'000 (ca US$ 180) per planting.

This profit will enable her to repay the loan and also help her husband cover the daily expenses.

Les 10 membres du groupe BENKADI VIII sont des femmes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 45 ans, 7 enfants et vivant toutes dans des familles polygames à KOMO un des villages de BAGUINEDA, 2ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles collaborent avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso afin de mener à bien leurs activités agricoles pendant l’hivernage.
Elles sont à leur cinquième prêt avec l’institution, les prêts passés ont été bien remboursés.
La spéculation cultivée est le mil avec RAMATOU ,5 eme debout de la gauche vers la droite sur la photo.
Avec son prêt, elle compte acheter des intrants, des semences et payer les frais de labour pour entretenir 0,5 hectare.
La production est vendue au niveau du village, au marché, après la récolte à une clientèle composée de revendeurs et de consommateurs.
Elle compte réaliser un bénéfice de 90.000FCFA par campagne.
Ce bénéfice lui permettra de payer son prêt et aussi d’aider son mari dans les dépenses quotidiennes.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
