A loan of $375 helped to buy fruits and vegetables in bulk.

Rosa's story

Rosa, 58, is married to Ernesto, 61, with whom she has six children whereof one is a minor and still goes to school. They live comfortably in the house they own. Rosa works selling fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, plantains, lemons, etc. She carries out this activity in front of her house, where she places a table each day on which she sells all these products. She renews her assortment every day, buying the freshest and healthiest vegetables at the town's market. She works alone most of the time, but sometimes her son helps her with some of the household chores.

She has been running this business for nearly five years and she enjoys the comfort and peacefulness with which she is able to generate an income in her own house. She likes what she does a lot because with the profit she makes out of selling her products she is able to help her husband with the basic household expenses. In the future she hopes to install a cellar where she can store different products and increase her profits in order to continue providing the necessary for her son and for her family. This will be her third loan with Kiva and she is grateful to those who help her to carry on with her business. She will use the requested loan of 1000 PEN to buy larger quantities of fruits and vegetables and market them through her business.
