A loan of $50 helped to pay for ten low-cost LED lights to resell to rural households without electricity.

Antoine's story

Antoine is a 36-year-old man from the Rulindo District in the Northern Province of Rwanda. He is seeking a loan of 30,000 Rwanda Francs (RWF) to purchase 10 rechargeable LED lights, which he will resell to people without electricity in his village. Every week or so, these customers will return to him to have their lights recharged for just 100 RWF. Antoine started selling lights in September 2012 and he has sold 30 lights to date, providing clean energy to 150 people. He is also a farmer and will reinvest the money he makes into expanding his other business to earn more money for himself, his wife Felecite, and their children.
