A loan of $1,100 helped to buy manure and fertilizer, among others.

Simon Honorato's story

Simón is 59-year-old but has the vitality and joy of a young 15-year-old according to what he says. And that’s because he believes that if he lets a bad mood take over he won’t work well and above all won’t be able to be good for him family. He lives with his wife who is his right hand and above all his friend and the shoulder on which he can rest when he needs support. His house is located in the city of Camaná which is noted for its hot weather all year round, it’s called “Land of Eternal Sun.” Agriculture, especially growing rice and beans, among others, is common. He attended secondary school but would have liked to have studied Agronomy.

With much effort and above all the wish to get ahead, Simon works his land growing broad beans. He spends about 10 hours daily at work above all because he’s careful to keep his plants free from pests so that harvest will be good. He believes he does well in his business because he’s very dedicated and well-known by his customers.

Simón is very happy and grateful for the support Kiva lenders are providing because thanks to their help he will be able to buy supplies like fertilizer and manure for his plants to improve harvest for next year and improve his income. In this way he will be able to continue striving every day to make his greatest dream reality: to finish building his house out of substantial materials.
