A loan of $1,200 helped to buy a variety of shellfish.

Elvis De Jesus's story

Elvis, 47, is married and has seven children in his care. He is from a town in Chinandega, an area that is dominated by the shellfish business and tourism because of its beautiful beaches. Elvis owns a small shellfish collector business and buys fish from the local fishermen. He then sells to buyers from other towns. In addition to his shellfish business he also earns a living with artisan fishing. He started the business with his own capital, which he was able to save in order to seek out a decent lifestyle.

Through much effort and loans he has received, Elvis has been able to renovate his home and increase sales. This loan will be used as working capital to buy a variety of shellfish such as blue crab, conch, shrimp, Tiguacal crab, lobster, etc.
