A loan of $275 helped to purchase more flour, sugar, onions, oil, etc, for her business.

Ophelia's story

Please meet 43-year-old Ophelia from St. Paul in Liberia. St. Paul is home to the oldest market in Liberia and is known for its fish due to its location by the sea. St. Paul is a suburb located just outside Monrovia, past the Freeport. It is one of the poorer areas, and you will often find its residents living in sub-standard housing. Ophelia is a widow who completed 10th grade. She has two children, aged 23 and 20, who live at home.

For the past ten years, Ophelia has been operating a small table where she sells items such as flour, sugar, onions, and oil. She started this business by selling for a friend and learned this method of selling from her friends. She is requesting a loan to purchase more flour, sugar, onions, oil, etc. for her business. She cites fewer goods on her table as her biggest challenge. Her favorite thing about her business is that it makes her independent. In the future, she would like to own a house. She thanks you in advance for your support!
