Cholpon's story

Cholpon is 41 years old and has three children. Her family's main source of income is Cholpon's farming and animal husbandry business, which she started in 1995 with 10,000 som (KGS). Thanks to her hard work, today Cholpon has one cow, five sheep, and 1.67 ha of rented land that is planted with potatoes and beans.

With an aim to further developing her business, Cholpon has applied to the microfinance bank of Bai Tushum & Partners for a loan of 50,000 som (KGS) for the purchase of sheep and saltpeter. Cholpon plans to reinvest the additional income in her business and she is intent upon paying her middle daughter's school tuition.
