A loan of $375 helped to buy a stove.

Juan Hipolito's story

Juan, 21, lives in the Parcona district of Ica, Peru. He studied through the fifth year of secondary school because he has limited economic resources, but he would like to have studied business administration. As a good Peruvian Juan loves traditional Peruvian food; one of the dishes he likes best is baked chicken. In his spare time he likes to play soccer with his neighbors and friends.

With a lot of effort and dedication he goes out to work every day offering his services as a taxi driver. He rents a vehicle and goes around the city streets looking for passengers, which can give him income to help his parents with the household expenses. Juan believes he's getting ahead because he's responsible and friendly with the customers.

Juan's very grateful to the Kiva lenders because with their help he'll be able to buy a new stove for his mother. Currently she has a kerosene stove, which is dangerous when used.

This way he'll be able to improve his family's quality of life and continue striving to achieve his big dream: "To have a taxi company and continue supporting his family."
